What is the "4-1-1 on 281"? This is the place where you can see, firsthand, the information impacting the ongoing environmental studies on US 281, north of Loop 1604. This is the place where you can see, for yourself, what is really being said and done to help solve traffic congestion along this corridor, and this is the place where your questions will be answered, without double talk, without pretense and without having to read between the lines to get a real answer.

The Alamo Regional Mobility Authority, the local entity in Bexar County, responsible for the planning, and potential development of new capacity solutions along US 281 and Loop 1604, among other roadways, is the host of the "4-1-1". Our commitment is to be honest, forthcoming, and direct with you, our friends and neighbors, who suffer each day with traffic that seems to just get worse instead of better.

We may disagree from time to time, but we know that we all want the same things for our community. Good schools, good jobs, a place to raise a family and enjoy the beauty of San Antonio and the Hill Country.

So how does a road fit into this? It's simple. If we are stuck in traffic, staring at taillights in front of us and headlights behind us, we don't have the time we need to experience and enjoy the good quality of life we have in this region. Instead, we come to know all too well the frustration of being in a major city with limited options on how to travel.

We aren't here to push one solution over another. If we are going to solve the real problems facing us from congestion, as a community, we have to embrace that it's going to take multiple solutions and multiple choices to help us move forward.

Through the "4-1-1" we hope to bring new ideas, new perspectives, and new thoughts to the discussion.

We are here to listen. We are here to be engaged. We are here, as your friends and neighbors, as drivers and riders, to find real solutions to the problems facing our community's transportation system.

If you want the real facts about the ongoing study, the possible interim improvements, and the work being done to bring the 1604 / 281 interchange into being, welcome, you've found the right spot.

We look forward to hearing from you and we invite you to leave a comment, send us an email, log on and join the discussion.

We have a lot of work to do, and it's going to take all of us to be able to accomplish what needs to be done.
