Marshall Road Proposed Improvements
What does the Super Street potentially mean for Marshall Road?
For your morning drive, the Super Street means your drive to Loop 1604 will go from the approximately 14 minutes it takes today, down to approximately 8 minutes - a savings of 6 minutes each day!
For your evening drive, it means a time savings of almost 10 minutes, based on the current modeling of the proposed improvements from the Super Street. Instead of waiting approximately 16 minutes each day to get home once you pass Loop 1604 heading north on US 281, with the Super Street, that drive should be cut down to approximately 7 minutes.
How did we get these numbers?
For the current roadway travel times, the numbers are based on model runs which have been verified by driving the corridor and timing multiple trips during both morning and evening drives over multiple days.
For the projected travel timesavings, the model was run and used what could be considered the worst-case scenario. That is, the model was programmed to run the two hour morning and evening drive time (peak period) using the highest traffic volume observed from real time counts down earlier this year, while school was still in session.
Traffic counts are broken down into 15-minute windows, and the highest 15-minute window was replicated, in the model, for the entire two hours to ensure that even under the worst possible conditions seen on US 281 today, the Super Street would still be able to provide relief.
